Derrick started teaching classes in Tucson in February of 2010. Kristine has been dancing in Tucson for well over a decade and she is a sought after follower and instructor. The local ladies finally cornered Kristine and insisted that she share the techniques she uses to be such a beautiful tango dancer. “Creative activity could be described as a type of learning process where the teacher and the student are located in the same individual.” ~Arthur Koestler~ Rusty has been teaching Argentine Tango in Tucson since 2004. Rusty has studied with scores of Tango Master Instructors and is well trained in all of the three tango styles of Milonguero, Salon and Neuvo. He enjoys passing on his passion and love of the dance to his students and encourages community growth and cohesion. [...] Joanne, friends call her Jo, was introduced to and fell in love with Argentine Tango in early 2005 taking lessons with Rusty. After extensive study and training she partnered up with Rusty and has been teaching group classes and private lessons ever since. Together they have traveled to Buenos Aires and to numerous festivals [...] Mara Carlson started teaching tango in Tucson over twenty years ago. For over a decade she ran regular classes and milongas in Tucson. She is currently teaching a class at the UA Recreation Center and teaches privates. Mara Concordia started teaching in 2009. Ron has been organizing milongas and DJing in Tucson since 2006. On Mondays he teaches a basic class at Hotel Arizona and once or twice a month hosts a milonga. John Dalstrand is one of the founding fathers of tango in Tucson. He no longer teaches actively. Dave and Shelli Little have been teaching in Tucson for over a decade. Dave has been hosting a milonga at Armory Park the 2cnd Saturday since 1998, he doesn’t need a DJ, he spins milonga CDs he has acquired from visiting instructors. Kate works for Shall We Dance Ballroom Academy. Erik DJs and organizes a milonga in Tucson. Tango is a walking dance… so ask yourself: “Did you learn to walk, or did someone teach you?” |
